General information
The Department of Social Philosophy and Management was established in December 2021 by merging two departments: Philosophy and Political Science and Management.
The Department of Philosophy and Political Science has been chronicling its history since 1997, when the Department of Humanities was created on the basis of the Department of Social Sciences by the decision of the Academic Council of the Ukrainian Institute of Finance and Economics. In 2000, it was reorganised into the Department of Philosophy and Sociology, and later into the Department of Philosophy and Political Science.
The Department of Management was founded in 2000 as part of the Centre for Retraining and Advanced Training of the State Tax Service of Ukraine. In 2004, the department became a university-wide department. In 2006, it was renamed the Department of Financial Management, and in 2011 - the Department of Management, in connection with obtaining a licence to train bachelors in the field of knowledge 0306 "Management and Administration", speciality 6.030601 "Management".
The achievements of both departments in research, education and organisational activities have made the university famous. The names of the academic staff and their achievements are inscribed in golden letters in the history of the institution.
Continuity in the activities of the newly created Department of Social Philosophy and Management means both taking into account the experience of the past and reproducing it at a qualitatively new level.
Social philosophy and management are the most important scientific fields, the combination of which gives a new impetus to the development of scientific knowledge. After all, the history of human society and various forms of its state system has for many centuries been inextricably linked to solving problems of optimal organisation of society, effective management of all social processes of human life, state regulation and management of various spheres of material and spiritual life.
The Department is headed by Leonid Chuprii, Doctor of Political Science, Associate Professor.
Today, the Department of Social Philosophy and Management provides training:
- bachelors in the speciality 073 "Management" - the educational programme "Management of hotel and restaurant business";
- Masters in the following specialities: 073 Management - Project Management study programme; 281 Public Management and Administration - Regional Management and Self-Government study programme; 091 International Relations, Public Communications and Regional Studies - Global Political Processes and International Relations study programme;
- Doctor of Philosophy in the speciality 281 "Public Management and Administration" - educational programme "Public Management and Administration".
Applicants of the Hospitality Management study programme undergo a 2-month internship at the University of Varna (Bulgaria), Golden Sands Resort.
Graduates of the Hospitality Management programme can hold the following positions:
- restaurant or hotel manager;
- director (head) of the enterprise;
- Director of a branch, small enterprise;
- Head of the Marketing Department;
- manager of a restaurant or hotel.
Employment: Enterprises of the hotel and restaurant business.
Graduates of the Project Management study programme can hold the following positions:
- Head of project teams of investment companies
- Head of divisions and departments of state treasury bodies
- Project manager of local government projects
Employment:
- Financial services of enterprises and organisations;
- Banking institutions;
- Investment companies and funds.
Graduates of the educational programme "Public Management and Administration" can hold positions in the state executive
authorities; local governments; NGOs; political organisations (parties); higher education institutions, etc.

- The State Property Fund of Ukraine;

Graduates of the Global Political Processes and International Relations study programme can hold the following positions:

- Professional in the field of information and information analytics.

- Expert on socio-political issues.
The department has two scientific sections:
- Section of Social Philosophy for the study of social and humanitarian processes, including globalisation processes. The activities of the section are aimed at ensuring the teaching of basic humanitarian disciplines in all specialities of the State Tax University; formation of a harmoniously developed personality with a broad outlook, developed intellect, high level of general and legal culture; promotion of youth adaptation to social transformations in the context of globalisation processes
- Management Section for the study of the principles of management and public administration and management. The section's activities are aimed at developing the ability of higher education students to creatively approach the problems of building organisational management; developing skills and abilities to perform management functions; developing the ability to make informed management decisions in various fields of activity; achieving effectiveness in achieving both the goals of enterprises and their own goals.
The scientific activity of the teaching staff of the department is aimed at researching topical issues in the field of philosophical, political, historical sciences; in the field of management and administration.
The staff of the department successfully cooperates with colleagues from higher education institutions of Lithuania, Poland, the Slovak Republic, as well as with domestic academic and educational institutions - the H. Skovoroda Institute of Philosophy of the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine, the Institute of Higher Education of the Academy of Pedagogical Sciences of Ukraine, the National University of Internal Affairs of Ukraine, the Philosophical and Economic Society at Taras Shevchenko National University of Kyiv, the Ukrainian Philosophical and Economic Society, state and local authorities and other flagships of domestic and world education.
