History
The Department of Psychology, Pedagogy and Sociology was founded in 2002, Doctor of Psychological Sciences, Professor, and Academician (Full Member) of the National Academy of Pedagogical Sciences of Ukraine, Serhii Maksymenko was the first head. Candidate of Psychological Sciences, Olena Chuyko had been head since 2006. From 2007, Doctor of Sociological Sciences, Associate Professor, Viktor Shcherbyna took charge. Starting from 2008, Candidate of Psychological Sciences, Associate Professor, Taisiia Tkachuk led the department. In 2011, Doctor of Philosophical Sciences, Professor, Nadiia Kivenko became the head. From 2015, Doctor of Philosophical Sciences, Professor, Olena Lyovkina held the position. Since October 1, 2020, the department has been headed by Candidate of Pedagogical Sciences, Associate Professor, Iryna Pietukhova.
From the very beginning of its activity, the department has been training specialists in the field of 053 Psychology at the educational qualification level of "bachelor". The positive conclusion and certificate from the National Agency for Quality Assurance in Higher Education were indicators of high-quality training of future psychologists (Decision No. 14(31).1.69 dated from July 23, 2020. The certificate is valid until July 23, 2025), which stated the successful accreditation of the educational-professional program "Psychology" by the department in 2020 for the specialty 053 "Psychology" to prepare candidates for the first (bachelor's) level of higher education.
The training of specialists
The department trains specialists for obtaining bachelor's and master's degree in the specialty of 053 "Psychology" (full-time and part-time forms of study), the field of knowledge 05 "Social and Behavioral Sciences". Since 2020, within the framework of obtaining a master's degree has been started the training in the educational program "Psychology. Business Psychology".
In order to increase the level of professional competence, the department continually operates the Social-Psychological Research Club "INSIGHT" and the Youth School "Future Psychologist."
The scientific and pedagogical staff of the department.
The department consists of 12 scientific and pedagogical staff members, including: 3 doctors of science, professors; 7 candidates of science, including 6 associate professors; 2 lecturers who are working on their dissertation research.

Educational and methodological work
The scientific and pedagogical staff conducts educational and methodological work in order to provide the educational process with the working programs of academic disciplines assigned to the department.
For all academic disciplines, the academic staff of the department have developed educational and methodological complexes that fully comply with state standards and regulatory requirements and reflec the latest trends in the development of national and global psychological science. Educational and working educational programs, lecture outlines, methodological recommendations for the master's thesis, diploma, and coursework, internship programs, methodological guidelines for independent and scientific work of candidates have been developed.
The educational process of training future psychologists uses iteractive forms and methods of organizing educational activities, as well as information and communication tools. The academic staff combine theory with practice, which is carried out at a high level in various fields of activity, both in educational and social, economic, and legal spheres. The scientific and pedagogical staff widely practice conducting master classes, workshops, training sessions, olympiads, business games, seminars -“round tables”, debates, etc.
Scientific work
From 2016 to 2022, the department worked on the research topic: "Personal and professional development of modern youth: socio-psychological and sociological aspects." Currently, the research topic of the department is "Socialization of Personality in conditions of a crisis society: psychological-pedagogical aspect" (2022-2027). The department regularly organizes the International Scientific and Practical Conference "Current Issues of Psychological and Social Adaptation in Conditions of a Crisis Society," which are attended by both national and foreign researchers. Higher education students actively participate in the annual student scientific and practical conference "Current Issues of the Present in the Context of Social-Psychological Knowledge," where master classes from leading psychologists of the country are traditionally held.
