General information

The Department of Cybernetics and Applied Mathematics was established in 2021 by merging the Departments of Economic Cybernetics and Higher Mathematics. The department is headed by Oksana Anatoliivna Yarova, Candidate of Physical and Mathematical Sciences, Associate Professor, and Honored Worker of Education of Ukraine.

The Department of Economic Cybernetics was established in September 2010 on the initiative of the Candidate of Technical Sciences, Associate Professor Volodymyr Antonenko by separating from the Department of Information Systems and Technologies. Volodymyr Antonenko headed the department from the day of its foundation until November 2016. Later, the department was headed by Doctor of Economic Sciences, Professor Oleksandr Stepanovych Oleksiuk. From September 2017 to March 2018, the acting head of the department was Candidate of Physical and Mathematical Sciences, Associate Professor Bohdan Dmytrovych Patsay. Until April 2019, the duties of the head of the department were assigned to the Candidate of Technical Sciences, Associate Professor Svitlana Dmytrivna Mamchenko. From 2021 to June 2024, the department was led by Volodymyr Viktorovych Lahovskyi, Candidate of Economic Sciences, Associate Professor.  

In 1996, the Department of Mathematics and Physics was established. The head of the department in 1996-1997 was Doctor of Physical and Mathematical Sciences Fedir Vasilyevich Motsny. The first staff of the department included: Vasyl Vasyliovych Denysenko, Candidate of Psychological Sciences, Associate Professor, Natalia Oleksandrivna Zahorska, Senior Lecturer of the Department, Nadiia Yukhymivna Hrytsenko, Senior Lecturer of the Department, Andriy Vasyliovych Skrypnyk, Candidate of Physical and Mathematical Sciences, Associate Professor, Mykhailo Mykhailovych Pyskun, Associate Professor of the Department, Nina Vasylivna Tochilina, Senior Lecturer of the Department, Liudmyla Yakymivna Savchuk, Head of the Laboratory.

In 1998, the department was renamed into the Department of Higher Mathematics and Mathematical Methods in Economics. The department was headed by Doctor of Physical and Mathematical Sciences, Professor Evgeny Anatolyevich Storozhuk.

In 2006, the department was reorganized into the Department of Higher Mathematics, which was headed by Doctor of Physical and Mathematical Sciences, Professor Mykola Mykolayovych Semko.

During the existence of the Department of Higher Mathematics, one teacher defended his doctoral dissertation (Semko M.M.), seven teachers defended their Ph.D. dissertations (Koval T.V., Kuchmenko S.M., Chernobay O.B., Mamonova G.V., Zadorozhnya T.M., Pyskun M.M., Yarova O.A.). The teachers of the department have prepared 7 monographs, more than 120 scientific articles in professional journals, more than 80 scientific and methodological manuals. The department has fruitfully cooperated with many universities of Ukraine and universities of the world (USA, Spain, Brazil, Turkey, etc.).

The department prepares applicants for higher education:

• the first (bachelor's) level of higher education in the educational program "Economic Cybernetics"
• the second (master's) level of higher education in the educational program "Secondary Education: Mathematics".
