History
The Department of Financial Markets and Technologies is one of the youngest in the structure of the State Tax University.
The Department of Financial Markets and Financial Services was established in September 2007 by dividing the Department of Finance and Insurance. In order to clarify the areas of activity, in September 2011 it was renamed the Department of Financial Markets.
In December 2021, the Department of Financial Markets and Technologies was established by merging the Department of Banking and Financial Monitoring, headed by Doctor of Economics, Professor Olena Bereslavska, into the Department of Financial Markets. The merger took place due to changes in the staff structure and reorganisation of the University of the State Fiscal Service of Ukraine into the State Tax University.

- Kovalenko Yuliia Mykhailivna - Doctor of Economics, Professor, Academician of the Academy of Economic Sciences of Ukraine (since 1 August 2022).
The teaching staff of the department is made up of specialists with sufficient practical and scientific experience. The department employs 15 permanent research and teaching staff, of whom 4 have a doctorate in economics and 10 have a PhD in economics, as well as 4 professors and 10 associate professors.
The Department of Financial Markets and Technologies is responsible for 71 academic disciplines, for each of which the necessary set of modern teaching and learning materials has been created and is constantly updated and improved, in particular for the MOODLE distance learning platform
Over the years, the department has become one of the leading research centres. The department has a Scientific School of Doctor of Economics, Professor, Honoured Worker of Science and Technology of Ukraine Svitlana Onyshko "Innovation, Tax and Financial Policy". Since 2003, 7 doctoral and 8 PhD theses have been defended under the supervision of S. Onyshko.
Under the supervision of Doctor of Economics, Professor Yuliia Kovalenko, 5 PhD theses were defended, and Doctor of Economics, Professor Olena Bereslavska, 1 thesis.
The high level of professional training of applicants is ensured by the departmental research work, in particular:
- "Financial Mechanism of Economic Structural Adjustment", which resulted in the publication of the collective departmental monograph "Financial Mechanism of Structural Modernisation of the Ukrainian Economy" (2013).
- "Taxation of the Financial Sector: International Experience and Ways of Implementation in Ukraine", commissioned by the Ministry of Finance of Ukraine and resulting in the publication of the collective monograph "Actual Problems of Improving Tax Regulation" (2013);
- "Regulation of Financial Markets in the Context of Globalisation", which was completed ahead of schedule and resulted in the publication of a collective departmental monograph "Regulatory Potential of the Financial Market in the Context of Global Challenges" (2016);
- "Business valuation, commissioned by ALEX Small Private Enterprise.
- "Formation and realisation of the tax potential of financial and non-financial corporations", which resulted in the publication of the collective monograph "Tax potential of financial and non-financial corporations of Ukraine" (2021).
Since 2021, the department has been working on the stage "Public borrowing in financial markets" as part of the research work of the Faculty of Finance and Digital Technologies on the topic "Public borrowing in the public finance system".
During the period of the department's existence, the teaching staff has prepared more than 600 methodological developments, published more than 1000 scientific papers, including more than 100 monographs, textbooks and manuals with the stamp of the Ministry of Education and Science of Ukraine.

The department's academic staff actively participate in international projects, academic mobility programmes, and conferences, which allows them to constantly and qualitatively improve their qualifications.
The Department annually organises the first stages of the All-Ukrainian Student Olympiads in the disciplines of Banking, Insurance, Investing, and Financial Security. In 2010 and 2013, the Department hosted the second stage of the All-Ukrainian Student Olympiad in Insurance; in 2015 and 2016 - in Investing; for three consecutive years - 2017, 2018, 2019 - in Banking.
In 2011, the department became a co-partner of the Ukrainian Stock Exchange and the UNIVER Investment Group and initiated the all-Ukrainian Internet trading competition "Exchange Universiade 2012".

The Master's degree programme in Financial and Insurance Management (accredited) is one of the most popular. The master's degree programme provides a thorough education in finance, banking and insurance, theoretical knowledge and practical skills in mastering international experience, which ensure mastery of modern methods of assessing and forecasting changes in the national and international financial markets, and the basics of professional knowledge and skills in the field of monetary and financial intermediation necessary for analysing and forecasting changes in the domestic and international financial markets. The programme guarantor is Doctor of Economics, Professor Iryna Chunytska.
The educational programme "Process Management in Banking" (accredited) is in demand among applicants who want to become specialists in the banking services market. In the process of training, the student acquires in-depth theoretical knowledge and professional skills in finance, banking and insurance. Masters who have completed this programme are in demand in the labour market. The programme's guarantor is Doctor of Economics, Professor Olena Bereslavska.
The Financial Technologies study programme is a new and unique study programme that takes into account the current needs of the financial market in the context of the rapid development of FinTech services. The global digitalisation of the world makes the competencies provided by this educational programme relevant, and graduates with unique knowledge gain wide employment opportunities. The programme's guarantor is Doctor of Economics, Professor Volodymyr Kornieiev.
The educational programme "Finance, Banking and Insurance" of the Doctor of Philosophy (accredited) prepares a highly qualified, competitive, integrated into the European and world educational and scientific space specialist for the Ministry of Finance of Ukraine and other public authorities, enterprises, institutions and organisations, scientific and educational institutions by acquiring theoretical knowledge, skills and other competencies sufficient to generate new ideas, solve complex problems in the field of finance, banking and insurance.
