On 17 December 2025, a guest lecture entitled ‘European Approaches to Taxation and Tax Culture in EU Countries’ was held for students of professional training and advanced training courses at Kyiv University of Market Relations. within the Jean Monnet Module «Formation of a sustainable interest in the EU tax culture through the introduction of educational, scientific and communication awareness-raising activities aimed at Ukrainian society» of the European Union programme «Erasmus+: Jean Monnet», 101125984 – TIEU – ERASMUS-JMO-2023-HEI-TCH-RSCH.
Project manager Iryna Prokopenko, PhD in Economics, Associate Professor of the Department of Tax Administration of the Faculty of Taxation, Accounting and Auditing of the State Tax University, informed the audience about approaches to taxation and experience in shaping tax culture in EU countries.
The main focus was on the methods used by EU countries to build partnerships between tax authorities and taxpayers, which has a positive impact on the conscientious fulfilment of tax obligations by taxpayers.
At the end of the session, the audience actively joined in the discussion of issues important for Ukraine, such as improving taxpayer compliance and increasing public trust in the state. They also noted that studying best practices in taxation and the formation of a tax culture in EU countries is extremely important for improving tax literacy and tax culture in Ukraine.
