Cisco Networking Academy

Cisco Networking Academy ( hereinafter referred to as Cisco Academy) is an educational social partnership program from the leading manufacturer of active networking equipment , Cisco Corporation (headquarters: San Francisco (California, USA) ( netacad.com ).

Cisco’s goal is to create an inclusive future for all by empowering everyone with real-world IT skills and helping them unlock opportunities. Cisco does this through its progressive educational technology platform ( netacad.com ), cutting-edge curriculum, instructor expertise, and partner ecosystem, which has impacted more than 28 million learners in 195 countries since its inception in 1997. Today, in addition to millions of students taking courses, 31,300 instructors teach courses at 12,100 educational institutions, including the State Tax University. 97% of learners who complete Cisco courses and receive industry certifications find employment or access new educational opportunities.

Cisco aims to expand digital skills and opportunities for 25 million more people worldwide by 2032, with a focus on cybersecurity and their popular  Women Power IT initiative . Importantly, the State Tax University (hereinafter referred to as the University) will also participate in this impact process.

On the basis of our educational institution, Cisco Academy was created in 2007 at the suggestion of the State Tax Service of Ukraine and the head of this program in Ukraine, Olena Domotenko. One of the important reasons for the creation of Cisco Academy at the University was the need of the State Tax Service of Ukraine to improve the qualifications of IT department specialists to solve the problems of developing a corporate network based on Cisco equipment. Significant methodological and moral support in the development of Cisco Academy at the University was provided by the then head of the Telecommunications Department  of the State Tax Service of Ukraine, S.I. Skrypka.

The first accredited instructors of Cisco Academy courses were A.O. Boldov (currently Vice-Rector for European Integration and Digital Transformation of the State Polytechnic University) and leading specialist D.V. Siparenko.
The head of Cisco Academy since its inception (2007) and an accredited instructor since 2015 is O.V. Redych, Candidate of Economic Sciences, Associate Professor of the Department of Computer and Information Technologies and Systems. Training and accreditation of instructors are carried out at the regional support center of Cisco Academy, which for our University is the National University named after Taras Shevchenko.

The first accredited Cisco Academy instructors were Siparenko D.V., Boldov A.O., and the head of the academy, Redych O.V. ( 2008)

In 2009, the University, in accordance with the Cisco Academy policy on supporting educational institutions, purchased a set of active equipment - Cisco routers and switches, on the basis of which a computer network training laboratory was created (today it is laboratory B407). The laboratory was reconstructed in 2020 with the assistance of the director of the Educational and Scientific Institute of IT Technologies, Doctor of Technical Sciences, Professor Gorbovy A.Yu.). Accredited teachers-instructors have the opportunity to create training groups on the Cisco Academy cloud platform ( netacad.com ), conduct class management, conduct workshops on active equipment and certify certificates to students who have successfully completed their studies.

The University's participation in the Cisco Academy program provides a significant impact on improving the quality of IT education, the image of educational programs, and the development of the University's information infrastructure in general.

From 2007 to 2015, Cisco Academy courses and resources were used to improve the skills of IT specialists of the State Tax Service at the Institute of Postgraduate Education. During these years, more than 600 IT specialists were upgraded, most of whom received professional-level certificates CCNA (Cisco Certified Network Associate). Since 2015, the program courses have been implemented in educational programs for bachelor's and master's degrees in the specialty "Computer Science".

Since 2016, Cisco Academy educational resources have been used to train bachelors and masters in the specialty "Computer Science" F3 (122) in the subjects "Computer Networks", "Operating Systems", "Multiservice Technologies of Information Systems", "Big Data Processing". The creation of study groups and training on Cisco Academy resources is carried out by an accredited instructor, Candidate of Economic Sciences, Associate Professor Redych O.V., workshops are conducted by teachers, Candidate of Pedagogical Sciences, Associate Professor Gladchenko O.V., Candidate of Pedagogical Sciences, Associate Professor V.O. Nizhegorodtsev, Assistant Professor Korotun A.G. In 2020, the subject "Computer Networks" was certified for compliance with the requirements of the State Pedagogical University and recommended for use in the educational process of the State Pedagogical University (certificate dated June 15, 2020).
