The Department of Legal Linguistics was established as part of the Educational and Research Institute of Law of the State Tax University on 1 December 2021. The Department is headed by Doctor in Law Science, Associate Professor Olesia Bodunova.
The purpose of the department is to provide language, communication and professionally oriented training of highly qualified lawyers who receive education at three educational and qualification levels (Bachelor, Master and Doctor of Philosophy) in the field of knowledge 08 "Law", specialty 081 "Law" and in the field of knowledge 29 "International Relations", specialty 293 "International Law".
The following disciplines are currently taught at the Department: Foreign Language (English, German, etc.), Foreign Language for Professional Purposes, Business Foreign Language, Legal Foreign Language, Academic Foreign Language, Foreign Language in the Speciality, Translation Theory and Practice, etc. At the same time, the programmes of normative and elective language training courses for lawyers provide for in-depth study of a foreign language and are focused on the development of professional theoretical knowledge and practical skills (written and oral translation of legal texts, spoken and written communication, abstracting relevant material, etc.)
The academic staff of the Department of Legal Linguistics is actively involved in scientific work. Teachers of the Department regularly participate in international scientific conferences and are published in leading scientific journals. At the same time, the department's faculty is constantly improving its professional qualifications. Thus, many of the department's lecturers have completed internships at universities and research institutions in foreign countries.
