On 26 March 2026, a guest lecture entitled ‘Taxation and Tax Culture in EU Countries: Lessons for Ukraine’ was held for students and academic staff at the Leonid Yuzkov Khmelnytskyi University of Management and Law.

The session was held in a hybrid format: 20 students and The event took place in a hybrid format: 20 students and the lecturer, Dr Viktor Synchak, Professor of Economics, were present in the lecture hall, whilst a further 22 students joined the event online.

The event took place as part of the implementation of the project “Jean Monnet Module: ‘Fostering a sustainable interest in EU tax culture through the implementation of educational, research and communication activities aimed at Ukrainian society’” under the European Union’s Erasmus+ Jean Monnet programme (No. 101125984 – TIEU – ERASMUS-JMO-2023-HEI-TCH-RSCH).

The lecture was delivered by the project leader, Iryna Prokopenko, PhD in Economics, Associate Professor of the Department of Tax Administration at the Faculty of Taxation, Accounting and Auditing of the State Tax University. During the lecture, attendees were introduced to the characteristics of taxation systems and the development of a tax culture in European Union countries.

Particular attention was paid to the establishment and development of mutually beneficial partnerships between tax authorities and taxpayers in EU countries, as well as the role of tax consultancy in this process.

At the end of the session, participants noted that such lectures are extremely important for raising the level of tax literacy and fostering a tax culture in Ukraine.
