The Laboratory was established to carry out a wide range of educational, scientific, research and service activities, including the involvement of students, postgraduates and applicants in research work.

The laboratory's work is aimed at implementing practical measures to ensure economic security, determining the prospects and effectiveness of innovation activities in the field of economic security in accordance with established standards (norms), implementing the results of research and development in production, and participating in the formation and implementation of state programmes and strategies for the country's socio-economic development.

The practical component of the activity is aimed at providing information and analytical support for assessing the level of real and potential threats to economic security, improving, and taking certain special measures to respond promptly to threats, risks, and hazards of activities.

The main tasks of the laboratory are:

• updating the areas of training specialists in the field of organisation and management of economic security;
• conducting research on topical issues of identifying and assessing risk areas in the economy, threats to the economic security of the state, and developing ways to minimise and eliminate them;
• Providing analytical support for conclusions and recommendations for government agencies to improve the efficiency of their decision-making on regulating relations in the economic sphere;
• organising and conducting scientific events, promoting the creation of scientific student groups;
• Ensuring interconnection in the work of laboratory scientists and administrative and public organisations;
• coverage of scientific and organisational activities of the laboratory in the media, through the publication of printed and electronic products;
• Providing professional development in the field of economic security, testing economic security measures through the development of adaptive models.

Main areas of work:

• development of analytical and methodological tools for substantiating proposals and making managerial decisions, implementation of strategies for the safe development of innovation-oriented socio-economic systems under conditions of uncertainty and risk;
• drafting regulations, orders, instructions and plans that regulate and define the functioning of the security system, as well as the activities of economic security units and their interaction with other structural units;
• improvement of the best domestic and foreign experience in the field of economic security, management mechanisms of the organisation's system, control and assessment of the level of information and analytical support;
• modelling the system of management decisions to influence the criteria, indicators, thresholds or critical values of economic security, forecasting and assessing the impact of external and internal performance factors;
• modelling socio-economic processes to identify threats and dangers to the functioning of socio-economic systems, substantiating the relevance and practical importance of measures to ensure economic security and assessing its effectiveness;
• scientific and methodological substantiation of applied aspects of ensuring the ability of entities to manage economic potential and financial and economic security in the process of innovation development;
• development of theoretical, methodological and applied aspects of the processes of forming and modelling macro- and micro-level financial and economic security strategies;
• modelling the conceptual framework for ensuring state economic security and the peculiarities of the formation of the modern economic system of Ukraine in accordance with international, in particular European, economic standards.
