On September 15, the Department of Foreign Languages hosted an international guest lecture entitled “UKRAINE AND EUROPE: MEDIA, CULTURE AND COMMUNICATION.”

The university welcomed Winfried Schneider-Deters, a German economist and publicist, expert on Ukraine, author of numerous publications on Ukrainian politics and European geopolitics, with many years of experience working with the Friedrich Ebert Foundation (FES).

The lecture was much more than a conversation about Ukraine and Europe. Participants had an opportunity to explore contemporary Ukrainian-European relations from the perspective of a German expert and discuss the role of media, culture and communication in shaping Ukraine’s international image.

Of particular interest to students was the presentation of the Friedrich Ebert Foundation Office in Ukraine, which is part of the Foundation’s international network. The FES has been continuously working in Ukraine, implementing educational, youth and civic initiatives.

Students learned about opportunities to participate in international projects, educational events, discussions and youth initiatives that help develop professional competences, English-language and communication skills, gain international experience and build new professional networks.

Such meetings provide an opportunity to go beyond the classroom, hear directly from an international expert and discover new perspectives for personal and professional development in the European educational and professional environment.

The event was moderated by Viktor Kulchytskyi, PhD in Philology, Associate Professor of the Department of Foreign Languages.
