On September 29, the first meeting of the Speaking Club, organized by the Department of Foreign Languages, took place as part of the University Language Hub.
And it was a wonderful start!
One of the most valuable aspects of the meeting was the opportunity to communicate in English with native speakers — Jamal Gutzwiller-Malakut 🇺🇸 and Regula Gutzwiller-Malakút 🇨🇭. This was a great opportunity for students to overcome the language barrier, hear natural English, and experience that language is, above all, about communication, emotions, and mutual understanding.
The topic of the first meeting was music and our musical preferences. Participants talked about their favorite genres and artists, shared their impressions, and discussed the emotions different kinds of music evoke.
During these challenging days, filled with air-raid alerts and constant tension, the meeting gave everyone a chance to take a break, focus on positive emotions, communicate, and spend time together — all in English!
The Speaking Club moderator is Iryna Sokolova, Candidate of Philological Sciences and Associate Professor at the Department of Foreign Languages.
It was a great start — and we are just getting started!
A reminder: the Speaking Club meets every Tuesday at 1:20 p.m.
We invite everyone who wants to improve their English communication skills, expand their vocabulary, overcome the language barrier, and gain experience communicating with native speakers.
A modern professional is someone who can communicate confidently with the world. And English opens up new opportunities to do just that!
Speak. Communicate. Grow.
Speak English — connect with the world!
We look forward to seeing you next Tuesday at 1:20 p.m.!
