A professor of the Department of Accounting and Audit held a webinar on ESG reporting and green finance for Ukrainian agribusiness.

On 23 September 2026, Volodymyr Metelytsia, Professor of the Department of Accounting and Audit of the Faculty of Taxation, Accounting and Audit at the State Tax University, held the webinar “ESG Reporting and Green Finance: European Requirements for Ukrainian Agribusiness.” The event was attended by representatives of 50 agricultural enterprises from different regions of Ukraine. The webinar focused on current changes in European sustainability reporting regulation and opportunities for Ukrainian enterprises to attract green finance.

During the event, the new rules for the application of the CSRD Directive under the Omnibus I package, the Voluntary Sustainability Reporting Standard for SMEs (VSME), accounting and taxation of transactions involving carbon certificates, as well as modern green finance instruments for Ukraine’s agricultural sector were discussed. Particular attention was paid to the EU Taxonomy, the Draft Law of Ukraine “On the Taxonomy of Sustainable Economic Activities and Sustainable Investments,” the White Paper of the National Bank of Ukraine, the Sustainable Finance Roadmap for 2025–2030, the Green Platform, and the Digital Navigator for Sustainable Development and Investment.

The practical part of the webinar focused on the preparation of ESG information by Ukrainian enterprises in line with European approaches. Participants were introduced to the structure of the VSME standard, its Basic and Comprehensive Modules, the principles of sustainability reporting, as well as EFRAG’s digital tools for preparing and converting reports into a machine-readable format.

A separate section was devoted to opportunities for agricultural enterprises to attract green finance, the role of ESG data in cooperation with banks, investors, and international partners, as well as modern financial instruments aimed at energy efficiency, decarbonisation, climate adaptation, and the modernisation of production.

The webinar also presented the results of a survey of Ukrainian agricultural enterprises conducted in March–May 2026 on the implementation of ESG reporting and the attraction of green finance.

The webinar was one of the practical outcomes of research aimed at adapting European approaches to sustainability reporting to the conditions of Ukrainian agribusiness and disseminating relevant knowledge among representatives of the business sector.

The webinar was held within the framework of research conducted at the Leibniz Institute of Agricultural Development in Transition Economies (IAMO, Germany) with the support of the Philipp Schwartz Initiative of the Alexander von Humboldt Foundation and the German Federal Foreign Office.
