Recently, at the initiative of Professor of the Department of Theory and History of State and Law Anatoly Shevchenko and with the assistance of Valeria Antoshkina - a participant in the Researchers at Risk Fellowship program initiated by the British Academy and Cara (the Council for At-Risk Academics), a guest lecture by Shiling Xiao, PhD, School of Law, University of Manchester (UK) was held.
The topic of the lecture: "China’s Legal System: Evolution, Education and Practice".
During the lecture, Shiling Xiao reviewed the legal system and legal education in China. The lecturer considered the following issues:
- the legal system of China, its evolution and sources of law;
- the influence of the Communist Party of China on the legal system of the state;
- features of obtaining legal education in China;
- the structure of legal education in China, the specifics of the educational process;
- legal practice in China;
- recent legal changes and reforms in China.
The event was held online, and many people came to listen to the lecture. Among the listeners were students of the first (bachelor's) and second (master's) levels of higher education at the National Institute of Law, university teachers.
Shiling Xiao's lecture aroused undisguised interest in the audience, as evidenced by questions from teachers and students and a lively discussion. At the end of the meeting, students of higher education and teachers of the National Institute of Law sincerely thanked the guest for an interesting lecture and the knowledge gained.
