On April 3, at the initiative of the International Relations Department of the State Tax University, an extremely informative lecture was held in an online format by the Managing Director of the Open Society University Network and Dean of Global Programs at Bard College (USA), Mr. Daniel Calingaert.

During the lecture, listeners had the opportunity to familiarize themselves in detail with the methods of implementing the shadow economy into the government apparatus using examples from countries such as South Africa, Nigeria, and Malaysia. Special attention was paid to analyzing the structure of the shadow business as well as the scale of losses to state budgets due to corrupt schemes.

The lecture was conducted in an active dialogue format – listeners actively asked questions, discussed, and expressed their own opinions, which made the event even more interactive and dynamic.

We would like to remind that Mr. Calingaert’s previous lecture, which took place on November 12, 2024, was also informative and attracted a large number of listeners, demonstrating the significant interest of the academic community in the issues of kleptocracy and shadow economies.

We hope for continued fruitful cooperation.
