Recently, the State Tax University hosted a guest lecture titled "The Legal Profession in Canada: Challenges and Opportunities in International Legal Practice." The lecture was delivered by Barbara Hendrickson, a lawyer, member of the Ontario Bar Association's Securities Committee, and founder of BAX Securities Law, which is ranked among the top ten corporate boutique firms in Canada by Canadian Lawyers magazine.
Students and faculty from the educational and research institute of law at the State Tax University gathered to listen to the lecture.
During the lecture, Barbara Hendrickson shared her experiences as a lawyer in Canada, discussed the nuances of the Canadian legal system, and explained how corporate lawyers interact with international clients and companies. Future Ukrainian lawyers learned about the specifics of legal practice in different jurisdictions and received valuable advice on building a career in the international legal field.
The topic of the lecture and the lecturer herself generated significant interest among the audience, evident from the questions posed by students, which Barbara Hendrickson happily answered. After a lively discussion, the students thanked the lecturer for the knowledge gained and expressed hope for the opportunity to attend more of her lectures in the near future.
Taking this opportunity, we want to express our heartfelt thanks to the head of the Department of Theoretical and Legal Disciplines at the State Tax University, Doctor of Law, Professor Anatoliy Shevchenko, and attorney Olga Bykova, representative of the National Association of Ukraine in Toronto, Canada, whose initiatives made this meeting possible. Thanks to such events, our students gain new knowledge and experience.
We look forward to more lectures!
