189th Seminar of the European Association of Agricultural Economists (EAAE)

On September 19, 2024, Professor Volodymyr Metelytsia from the Department of Accounting and Consulting at the State Tax University participated in the 189th seminar of the European Association of Agricultural Economists (EAAE) titled: "The EU Expansion (Post)war Ukraine: Implications for Agricultural and Food Product Markets" (Warsaw University of Life Sciences (SGGW), Warsaw, Poland).

The aim of the seminar is to bring together a wide range of research disciplines to discuss the consequences of the Russian war against Ukraine for the agricultural sector in Ukraine, the EU, and non-EU countries. Additionally, the seminar focuses on discussing the results of scenario analysis regarding the economic impact of further integrating Ukraine into European agri-food markets.

The seminar offered a platform for exchanging ideas and forming a comprehensive view on agricultural potential, value chain development, and state policy in a broad European context. While the seminar is aimed at the academic community, it is also open to decision-makers in business, politics, and non-governmental organizations, including the donor community.

Volodymyr Metelytsia held a session and presented on the topic: "The Advantages of Ukrainian Agribusinesses in Sustainability Reporting for Financing Green Recovery." He presented the results of a study conducted in collaboration with the Leibniz Institute of Agricultural Development in Transition Economies (IAMO, Germany) and the Swedish University of Agricultural Sciences (SLU, Sweden) as part of the MSCA4Ukraine program.

The presentation explored the consequences of the war on Ukraine's agricultural sector. It examined sustainability reporting as a tool for attracting funding for the recovery and development of agriculture in Ukraine. The study looked into utility theory and the willingness to secure loans for green modernization through the disclosure of environmental metrics in ESG reports. It reviewed decision-making models such as the multinomial logit model, mixed logit model, and latent class model to analyze agribusiness choices. This research also includes a pilot survey of agricultural enterprises regarding their readiness to implement ESG reporting to attract international financial resources for reconstruction and modernization.
