Department of Military Training
The Department of Military Training was established on the basis of the Resolution of the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine No. 1377 of 04 September 1998 at the Ukrainian Institute of Finance and Economics (Irpin, Kyiv region).
The first classes were held on 23 February 1999. In accordance with the Order of the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine No. 301-r dated 26 July 2001 and the Directive of the Minister of Defence of Ukraine No. D-115/1/0370 dated 01 November 2001 "On Organisational Measures in the Armed Forces of Ukraine", in 2002 the Military Training Department of the Academy of the State Tax Service, which in turn became the successor of the Ukrainian Institute of Finance and Economics, was reorganised into the Faculty of Military Training of the Academy of the State Tax Service of Ukraine. With the establishment of the National University of the State Tax Service of Ukraine, the faculty was reorganised into the Military Training Department.
Today, the Department of Military Training is a structural unit of the State Tax University and is subordinated to the Personnel Training Command of the Land Forces Command, the Central Military Education Directorate of the General Staff and the Military Education Department of the Ministry of Defence of Ukraine.
The academic staff of the Military Training Department consists of 7 people (2 of them are PhDs, associate professors), including the Head of the Department, 1 professor, 1 associate professor, 3 senior lecturers and 1 lecturer. Two teachers of the department are mobilised and are serving in the military: Colonel Oleksandr Viktorovych Borysov and Major Viacheslav Pavlovych Ilchenko.
The Military Training Department of the State Tax University is open to citizens of Ukraine who have or are obtaining a bachelor's degree or higher, are fit for military service for health reasons, and meet certain moral and business qualities. Training is provided at the expense of individuals and legal entities in the following military specialities: "Combat use of mechanised formations, military units and subdivisions" and "Organisation of moral and psychological support of troops (forces)". Military training lasts for 2 years or 6 months (shortened training period).
Citizens of Ukraine who have completed a full course of military training under the reserve officer training programme, passed the established exams and are certified as officers are awarded the appropriate primary military rank of reserve officer. This expands the opportunities for career choice. Graduates can serve under contract both in the Armed Forces of Ukraine and in other law enforcement agencies of our country (Security Service of Ukraine, State Border Guard Service, Ministry of Internal Affairs of Ukraine, etc.)
Over the period of existence of the Military Training Department of the University, 4,251 reserve officers of the Armed Forces of Ukraine have received military education.
