On September 7, 2026, the Scientific Library of the State Tax University hosted a Petrykivka painting masterclass for students, led by instructor Tetiana Lednova.

Petrykivka painting is more than just a decorative art. It is a vibrant and unique expression of Ukrainian culture, where the traditions of our people come alive through rich colors, intricate ornaments, and meaningful symbols.

Before diving into the hands-on session, students had the opportunity to explore the origins and history of Petrykivka painting. They were guided by the event’s speaker, Svitlana Tsymbaliuk, Director of the Scientific Library, and an illustrated book exhibition featuring publications and journal articles dedicated to this unique Ukrainian art form.

Then came the most exciting part!

Under the guidance of master artist Tetiana Lednova, participants learned the fundamental techniques of Petrykivka painting, created traditional ornamental elements, and experienced the unique magic of folk art firsthand.

This masterclass provided a wonderful opportunity not only to learn more about Ukrainian cultural heritage, but also to touch a tradition passed down through generations with one's own hands.
