On May 19, 2026, our library became a venue for a meaningful and inspiring meeting with writer and scholar Heorhiy Filipchuk – Doctor of Pedagogical Sciences, Professor, Full Member of the National Academy of Educational Sciences (NAES) of Ukraine, Honorary Doctor of the Ivan Ziaziun Institute of Pedagogical Education and Adult Education of the NAES of Ukraine, Deputy Chairman of the All-Ukrainian Prosvita Society named after Taras Shevchenko, and Chairman of the Congress of Ukrainian Intelligentsia.
The event opened with introductory remarks by Svitlana Yaroslavivna Tsymbaliuk, Director of the STU Scientific Library, followed by a welcoming speech from Vasyl Vasylovych Lutsyk, Vice-Rector for Research, who highlighted the crucial relevance of hosting such meetings.
The event was attended by students of the State Tax University, students of the Irpin Vocational College of Economics and Law, university lecturers, and library staff.
During the meeting, the discussion focused on highly vital topics: the quality of education, the challenges of the «New Ukrainian School», and the role of universities and libraries in shaping modern society. Heorhiy Heorhiyovych Filipchuk shared deep reflections, drawing on the ideas of world philosophers and placing special emphasis on the legacy of Hryhoriy Skovoroda, who, while traveling through Europe, was primarily interested in universities, libraries, and the scientific community.
He paid special attention to his personal vision of his mission – passing on a sense of national responsibility to the younger generation and helping them realize their role in the development of the state. He also stressed the importance of cultural and arts education, which, in his conviction, must be an integral component of every university.
At the core of the conversation was education as the foundation of state development. It must be high-quality, humane, intellectual, and Ukraine-centric. The author emphasized:
«It is essential to educate not just a specialist, but a citizen of the world, and human capital must become the fundamental value of society».
A separate point was made regarding the significance of public spaces as open environments for fostering freedom of thought and public dialogue.
The meeting took place in a live communication format: participants asked questions and engaged in the discussion. In fact, it was a profound lecture-dialogue about the future of education in Ukraine.

During the event, several books were presented and donated to the library, including «On the Eve of '24': Worldview of Time», «“… 24”: Identity, Statehood in the Dimension of War», «Invincibility of the Spirit», «Unmudded Springs…», and others.
The event took place on the eve of a milestone anniversary – the 65th anniversary of the establishment of the Taras Shevchenko National Prize of Ukraine. To mark this occasion, the Scientific Library of the State Tax University prepared a book exhibition and a video presentation titled «Laureates of the Shevchenko Prize».
The exhibition introduces users to the works of the Taras Shevchenko National Prize laureates in the field of literature whose books are available in our library's collection.

Such meetings serve as an important space for shaping conscious youth, developing critical thinking, and strengthening national identity.
We sincerely thank the author for the donated books and express our gratitude to everyone who joined this event!
We invite you to read and discover new meanings together with contemporary Ukrainian literature!
