On November 5, 2025, the Department of Higher and Applied Mathematics of the Faculty of Finance and Digital Technologies of the State Tax University hosted the 1st stage of the All-Ukrainian Mathematics Olympiad for students of the first (bachelor's) level of higher education.

The event is timed to coincide with the World Science Day for Peace and Development, which is celebrated annually on November 10 at the initiative of UNESCO. This holiday is designed to remind us of the important role of science in modern society, its impact on sustainable development, peacebuilding and the well-being of humanity.

The participants of the Olympiad had a great opportunity to test their level of knowledge, logical thinking and analytical abilities, as well as demonstrate mathematical erudition and a creative approach to solving problems of increased complexity.

It is especially pleasing to note that this year our photographer Valery Kandaskalov, a man with extraordinary energy and love for mathematics, expressed a desire to participate in the Olympiad. He is already over 60 years old, and once he was the winner of the Republican Olympiads in mathematics! An example of sincere devotion to science, which inspires the younger generation not to stop learning new things.

Such events not only contribute to the development of interest in mathematics, but also form in students a research culture, critical thinking skills and the ability to make non-standard decisions - qualities that are the basis of scientific research and innovative progress.
