Today, on 1 September 2023, the State Tax University held celebrations to mark the beginning of the new academic year and the initiation of freshmen into students.
The management of the educational institution, representatives of the teaching staff, parents and relatives of the first-year students of the first (bachelor's) level of higher education gathered to congratulate the young people on the beginning of a new stage in their lives - student life.
The celebration was also attended by distinguished guests, including:
▪️ Minister of Finance of Ukraine Sergii Marchenko;
▪️ Head of the Kyiv Regional Military Administration Ruslan Kravchenko;
▪️ Acting Head of the State Tax Service of Ukraine Tetiana Kiriyenko;
▪️ Head of the State Audit Service of Ukraine Alla Basalaeva;
▪️ Chairman of the Board of Oschadbank Serhiy Naumov;
▪️ Irpin Mayor Oleksandr Markushyn.
The opening ceremony of the event began with the presentation of the State Flag and the National Anthem of Ukraine, after which the participants observed a minute of silence to honour the memory and heroism of those who laid down their lives for the freedom and independence of our country.
Acting Rector of the University Dmytro Serebrianskyi addressed the participants of the celebration with a welcoming speech. He congratulated the participants on the Day of Knowledge and the beginning of the new academic year: "This day has finally come. Today, you can read many such messages on various information channels and social networks. For three years, we have been studying remotely due to various challenges of time, Covid and war. Today, we have finally gathered on this square together, thanks to the titanic efforts of the Armed Forces and all those who hold the frontline of Ukraine. I bow low to everyone."
Dmytro Serebrianskyi emphasised: "Our university is a small copy of the country that has survived the occupation, but has survived and is recovering. We are also rebuilding, and not only rebuilding the walls, we are rebuilding spiritually, with a clear motivation for knowledge. After all, as our President Volodymyr Zelenskyi emphasises: a nation that wants to be a leader makes education a leader. It makes education honest."
Addressing the first-year students, Minister of Finance Sergii Marchenko said: "It has been 27 years since I crossed the threshold of my native university when I was a graduate. Back then, we thought that everything had already happened, that the country had all the institutions and would develop and strengthen every year. We did not think then that we would still have to fight for independence and that there would be a war. Today, you have all grown up and by taking your steps as adults, you are not only ahead of the times, you are enriched by the world's attention to Ukraine and have the honour to continue and affirm its glory in the European community."
"Congratulating all of you on the Day of Knowledge, I want to say that you have made the right choice and will study at the best university in Ukraine, the hero city of Irpin - a city that has survived and is unbreakable, just like this educational institution. Despite the difficult times and challenges, I wish you all to never forget to dream. Dreams do come true, especially in the student years, when knowledge lays the foundation for life. So, I wish you success on this path that will bring our Victory closer," said Ruslan Kravchenko, Head of the Kyiv Regional State Administration.
After numerous congratulations and wishes, the senior students presented the young people with symbolic student attributes - " Transcript of records" and "Key to Knowledge", and the applicants pronounced the Freshman Oath, promising to carry the title of student of the State Tax University with dignity.
The knowledge holiday was accompanied by creative performances by gifted students of the university and young guests of the holiday.
The celebrations ended with the presentation of the State Flag.
