From November 12 to 19, 2025, students of the Educational and Scientific Institute of Law at the State Tax University had a unique opportunity to immerse themselves in the world of European law and EU tax legislation.
The guest lecturer was Dr. Lars Micker, Professor and Director of the Institute of International Tax Law (Nordkirchen, Germany).
The meetings were moderated by the Head of the Department of Legal Linguistics, Doctor of Law, Viktoriia Mykolaets.
During the course, students became acquainted with the history of the formation of the EU's legal framework, the structure and functions of key institutions — the European Parliament, the European Council, the European Commission — and the mechanisms for ensuring the implementation of Union legislation. Special attention was paid to the impact of European law on national tax legislation through EU directives and issues of international financial assistance.
The practical component of the course ensured active student participation: working with case studies, discussing real-life situations, and forming their own positions and proposed solutions created the effect of a lively educational dialogue and deep immersion in the material.
"Professor Lars Micker's course gave our students a valuable opportunity not only to understand the European legal environment but also to see its direct impact on tax policy," noted Doctor of Law, Viktoriia Mykolaets.
We sincerely thank Professor Lars Micker for the exceptionally informative course and promise that such international meetings will become regular at STU.
