On 26-29 October 2023, Uzhhorod National University hosted an international scientific and practical conference "European Integration of Ukrainian Education and Science: Problems and Challenges". The event brought together about 50 vice-rectors for scientific work of Ukrainian higher education institutions to develop a framework for the European integration of Ukrainian education and science. Oleksandra Smirnova, Acting Vice-Rector for Research, represented the State Tax University at the conference.

The event was organised by UzhNU and the Center for Ukrainian and European Scientific Cooperation, moderated by Mykola Palinchak, Dean of the Faculty of International Economic Relations of UzhNU, Head of the Transcarpathian Branch of the Center for Ukrainian and European Scientific Cooperation.

The conference was opened by the Rector of UzhNU Volodymyr Smolanka. He greeted all those present in Uzhhorod and noted that the topic of the event was important and relevant. "Thank you for finding the opportunity to come in such a difficult time. I think that we have all not been to an event with such a high scientific potential for a long time - in the circle of dozens of vice-rectors for scientific work of universities from all over the country. With this in mind, I am confident that the conference will be held at a high intellectual level, with interesting presentations and lively discussions ahead. Moreover, the topic of the conference is extremely relevant for our country. We are grateful to the co-organisers for their efforts," said the head of the university.

Other distinguished guests also addressed the audience, including Roman Sarai, Chairman of the Transcarpathian Regional Council, Petro Dobromilskyi, Deputy Head of the Transcarpathian Regional Military Administration, Oleg Golovko, Founder and Director of the Helvetica Publishing House, Chairman of the Supervisory Board of the Center for Ukrainian and European Scientific Cooperation, and Ivan Myroniuk, Vice-Rector for Research at UzhNU.

After the official part of the conference, the participants moved on to the plenary session, where they shared their experience in the areas of politics, international activities and digitalisation..
