On 18.06.2025, a training was held for the students of the summer school of the State Tax University on the topic: "TAXATION AND TAX CULTURE OF EU COUNTRIES: EXPERIENCE FOR UKRAINE" with the participation of the Association of Taxpayers of Ukraine.
The event was held within the framework of the Jean Monnet Module “Formation of a sustainable interest in the EU tax culture through the introduction of educational, scientific and communication awareness-raising activities aimed at Ukrainian society» of the European Union's Erasmus+ program: Jean Monnet" (Project: 101125984 — TIEU — ERASMUS-JMO-2023-HEI-TCH-RSCH
Vice President, Director General of the Association of Taxpayers of Ukraine Liudmyla Gerasymenko welcomed the audience and introduced the mission, purpose and principles of the Association, emphasizing that the Association is the most powerful business association in Ukraine for the protection of the legitimate rights and interests of taxpayers, which brings together representatives of small, medium and large businesses. The Association of Taxpayers of Ukraineis a member of the World Taxpayers Association and the European Taxpayers Association. Liudmyla Gerasymenko ou tlined the main aspects of the current state of Ukrainian tax legislation in terms of harmonization with the EU regulations and focused on the compliance of Ukrainian tax legislation with the EU regulations, in particular, in terms of VAT and excise tax harmonization, as well as corporate taxation and BEPS. Liudmyla Gerasymenko concluded her speech by addressing the students: "Dear students! University is a place and time of opportunities, do not miss them! Participation in trainings, conferences, educational programs, and volunteer activity will help you greatly, in particular, in your future employment."
The event was followed by an informative and educational training game on the peculiarities of taxation and the formation of tax culture in the EU countries. During the event, Iryna Prokopenko, Project Manager, PhD in Economics, Associate Professor of Tax Administration, and Olga Ivanyshyna, Project Leader, PhD in Economics, Head of the Department of Tax Administration, introduced the students to the moral and ethical aspects of building mutually beneficial relations between taxpayers and regulatory authorities in the EU. The participants of the event actively participated in the discussion and debate on the importance of sharing such experience and implementing successful European practices of fair taxation, tax discipline among taxpayers and tolerant attitude of tax authorities to taxpayers in Ukraine.
