From 24.06 to 01.07.2025, a special short-term training programme «European Approaches to Taxation and Tax Culture of EU Countries» was held at the Institute of Advanced Training and Postgraduate Education of the State Tax University. The advanced training courses are held within the framework of the EU Erasmus+ Jean Monnet Module: «Formation of sustainable interest in the EU tax culture through the introduction of educational, scientific and communication outreach activities aimed at Ukrainian society» 101125984 – TIEU – ERASMUS-JMO-2023-HEI-TCH-RSCH.
Officials of the Ministry of Finance of Ukraine, the State Tax Service of Ukraine, the Customs Service of Ukraine and the Accounting Chamber of Ukraine registered for the course.
The course lecturers Iryna Prokopenko (Project Leader, PhD in Economics, Associate Professor of the Department of Tax Administration of the Faculty of Taxation, Accounting and Audit) and Olha Ivanyshyna (Project Leader, PhD in Economics, Associate Professor, Head of the Department of Tax Administration) introduced the students to the peculiarities of the common tax policy in the EU; current trends in the taxation of direct and indirect taxes in the EU countries; and the high level of tax culture in the EU member states. They focused on the ways and means of establishing mutually beneficial partnerships between tax authorities and taxpayers.
The participants showed great interest in the course materials and took an active part in discussing topical issues related to the implementation of approaches to taxation in Ukraine and best practices for building an appropriate level of tax culture in the EU.
The discussion of the forms and methods of democratising relations between taxpayers and public authorities and achieving a balance between the interests of the state and taxpayers was particularly emotional.
At the end of the training, 669 participants successfully passed the final knowledge tests and received certificates of advanced training.
We thank all the participants who will use the knowledge gained in their activities, which will contribute to the formation of a high tax culture, increase tax literacy and tax discipline in civil society in Ukraine according to the European model.
