On 12.04.24, teachers of the Department of Tax Administration Iryna Prokopenko and Olga Ivanyshyna held the final classes of the optional course "Tax Culture of the EU Countries" for the first (bachelor's) degree students of the Faculty of Taxation, Accounting and Audit of STU.
The classes were held within the framework of the EU Erasmus+ Project "Building sustainable interest in the EU tax culture through the introduction of educational, scientific and communication outreach activities targeting Ukrainian society" 101125984 -TIEU - ERASMUS-JMO-2023-HEI-TCH-RSCH.
The course is focused on the formation of a tax culture in Ukraine, taking into account the experience of EU countries. Optional classes allowed students to better understand the motives of taxpayers' behaviour in EU countries; develop new competencies and generate new knowledge in the field of taxation; master the forms and methods of forming a tax culture in Ukraine.
Lectures and practical classes were attended by students majoring in Accounting and Taxation of the educational programmes Accounting, Tax Audit and Business Analytics, Tax Consulting.
During the classes, students actively participated in discussions and debates on the need to improve taxpayers' tax discipline, ethics of tax officers' behaviour and taxpayer service in accordance with European standards.
We hope that the course participants will become agents of change and contribute to the democratisation of relations between taxpayers and public authorities in Ukraine.
